Sara Haghighat-joo Continues to Fight on Her Road to Paris
The Road to Paris is not an easy one. Sara Haghighat-joo faced Kenya’s Aminata Martha Faki on Sunday, September 10th, 2023, and won by unanimous decision of 5-0. She then went on to fight against Nyembo Muamba Gisele of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023; she came out victorious with another unanimous decision, 5-0.
Sara knew she was facing a fierce opponent from Morroco in the semi-final fight on Thursday, September 14th, 2023. The fight was live-streamed on the Olympic Channel, where Sara fought hard but lost by unanimous decision, finishing the tournament as a bronze medalist.
This result wasn’t what she had hoped for, but her journey to securing a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games is not over.
Sara has two more opportunities to qualify at two separate world qualifiers:
- Boxing World Qualification Tournament in Busto Arisizio, in the outskirts of Milan, Italy – February 29th through March 12th, 2024.
- Boxing Qualification Tournament of the Boxing Road to Paris in Bangkok, Thailand – May 23rd through June 3rd, 2024.
As Sara continues to earn her spot in the 2024 Olympic Games, West End AC proudly supports her every step of the way!
